Junebug's Visit - Day One

First thing we did on her first day was call the airport to check on her baggage. No word. We tracked it online using the code she was given. No word. So she and I hiked out to Kmart. What else would you want to do on your first day in St. Thomas?

After picking out some essentials, like a bathing suit, we got back in the truck and headed back to the house. In the rain. But we were gung ho that she would hit Magen's Bay beach on Day 1. As was I.

Once home we called the airport again to see if there was any news, and there was! Lo and behold her bag had been found and, more amazing still, they were driving it to our front door. Damn! We waited about a 1/2 hour, and sure enough it showed up. Excellent! Which means Kmart was completely unnecessary. Oh well!

After Junebug checked her bag out and unpacked a little we changed into our suits, grabbed some towels, said goodbye to the Man (who was smartly sitting this beach trip out) and drove down to Magen's. In pouring rain. Eh, whatever. It was a Thursday afternoon, about 2pm, what else are we going to do? Plus there's a bar there. Case closed.

As we pulled in the rain had stopped, and people were re-setting up their beach chairs and towels. We grabbed some chairs from the back of the truck, stopped in the bar to grab a couple of rum punches, and plopped down on the (wet) sand.

Here's a shot of that day...clearly not the most beautiful of beach days (I know I know, most of you would still take it right now...):

It should be noted that Junebug managed to spill her drink not once, but twice. The first time she set it in the sand in order to free her hands up to set up her chair...and tipped the drink over by setting her bag practically on top of it.

Once we had been sitting for a few minutes we realized we were hungry and decided to leave the chairs and go up to the snack bar. Junebug carefully balanced her drink on the arm of the chair, and then grabbed both arms as she heaved herself up. Unshockingly that very movement caused the drink to fall to the sand.

Rookie.

Here's a shot of J once she managed to actually get some sips of rum:

And one of me, rocking my Pats hat (sigh) and sipping on my (unspilled) drink:

We got some food from the snack bar, settled back in our chairs to eat and just as we readied our first bites the skies opened and the rain came in. Crap. We pulled our chairs underneath a pavilion and watched the rain fall while eating our late lunch. What a great first day!

After we ate we gave up on the beach and went back home. Tonight I was starting the first batch of sauce for the Stupid Bowl and I put J in charge of peeling onions and garlic:

She'll never ask if she can help me in the kitchen again ;) The Man kept our margarita glasses full as we cooked and he prepared dinner. Cheers J! (if she looks weary here it's because she's ALL SET with onions and garlic):

Our bud came over for dinner, eventually my sauce was simmering and we all took our drinks into the hot tub to hang out. I'm pretty sure the high temp brings your buzz around that much faster, and it wasn't soon until the Man took a 'break' (nap...) on the couch while the three of us stayed in the tub. The Man came back in a bit with his second wind and we decided to start up Guitar Hero. We be lovin' that game as you all know!

Here's a shot of J playing her first licks of GH ever (with our bud):

She rocked it out pretty good for a first-timer.

The night ended a little while after that and we all hit the sack. Day Two had an early start and we wanted to be ready.

First things first...I did the new look!

Funny, when you said JB spilled her drink twice I thought what a rookie and then you went and called it. And yes, I would take that not so nice beach day about now....

LOL! My vacation started out rough, but it ended happy...so, I'll take a few spilled drinks.
